Health and Food

Nothing a little coffee can’t fix

Growing up I ate like every other care free teen. Lots of pizza, Mac n’cheese, and loads of ice cream with as many toppings as I could fit. I was always an active kid and teenager. I rode horses, played soccer, and regularly ran and worked out.

Once my sophomore year came around I began making some changes and reevaluated the reasons why I always worked out and never saw results. Like so many people say in order to see results the diet you consume is as equally important as the workouts. I started making slow changes. I cut out the pizza, candy, and endless sweets I was eating and began trying to eat more vegetables and wholesome meals.

Then my health took a turn again a few months later and I began having some serious dietary problems. I saw several doctors and did a lot of blood tests for food allergies. The only conclusion we came too was that my stomach is unable to digest acidic foods. I used trial and error to find out what foods (acidic or not) upset my stomach. I began cutting out most dairy and starting cutting out gluten as well.

I decided that for my own health now and later on in life I wanted to eat healthy. Not by using fad diets but by developing a healthy lifestyle that I could follow for the rest of my life and most important was food that I can still enjoy.
